The 12 x 6 wooden sheds are the ideal size garden building for storage and use as a workshop. There are a range of 12 x 6 sheds available; tongue and groove is a method of cladding where 12mm panels interlock to create a strong structure, it is are robust and reliable by reducing the risk of water infiltration. Tongue and groove sheds are slightly more expensive than the overlap range, although it’s definitely worth the investment if you are looking for a robust and long lasting building. The other cladding option is our overlap range which is inexpensive, made with panels overlapped horizontally and secured to vertical bearers. Many of our sheds floor and roofs are constructed using 10mm solid sheet board (OSB), which is stripped timber compacted with resin. However some of our premier ranges are tongue and groove throughout which are the most robust of our 12 x 6 sheds. Pressure treated products have intense liquid preservative stained into the wood to protect against rot, wear and tear. Pre-treated products are warehouse protected for approximately 6 weeks and treatment is required once the shed is erected. Wood treatment can be purchased from most DIY stores; it is available in a variety of colours to add decor and a personal touch to your shed. 12ft x 6ft sheds can come with an apex roof which is a pointed roof with two panels that meet in the centre, or a pent roof which is a flat sloped roof. The choice you make on the roof style is completely personal preference as neither have significant pros and cons. Our 12 x 6 sheds are available with windows or without, sheds with styrene glazed windows are great as a workshop, providing natural light to complete tasks and find belongings with ease, without the need to install electric lighting. Alternatively, a windowless shed may be seen as more secure as it prevents anyone from seeing your storage. 12 x 6 sheds can have a single door; ideal if the building is used as a craft workshop or storage area for small items. On the other hand double doors are great for accessing larger items such as furniture and lawn mowers. It is essential that 12 x 6 sheds are installed on a solid level base that is preferably 1ft larger than the shed itself. There are a few options of bases; the most common being a concrete or paved area. A relatively new option is the Ecobase, a quick and easy to assemble grid system that provides a firm, well drained foundation for the shed. Pebbles or grass are not a suitable base for your shed, if you have any queries regarding bases then please do not hesitate to contact us. The 12 x 6 sheds have pressure treated floor bearers to raise the shed slightly off the floor base, this prevents the sheds from getting water damaged.
